This children’s dress was handmade in Guatemala, featuring panels of woven huipil. A huipil is a traditional garment with origins across Mesoamerica. The huipil (from Nahuatl huīpīlli) has been worn for centuries by indigenous women in both Mexico and Central America, with each community creating its own regional styles, colors, and motifs.

More than clothing, it’s a symbol of identity and spirituality: their patterns often reflect cosmology, agriculture, nature, animals, and stars. Allowing the wearer to be tied to both community and the cosmos.

At Mexituras, we celebrate the shared history and living traditions of indigenous peoples across Mesoamerica, where culture flows beyond borders.
